I’ve been reflecting a lot on New Year’s resolutions especially when it comes to weight loss and exercise. It seems that every year we make our resolution that this is THE year that we will lose weight and exercise more. I know I have been guilty of those in the past…well, I still am a little guilty about the exercise part…my mom used to have one of those machines that you stood on and put a band around your waist and it was supposed to jiggle the fat away. Remember those? Yeah…I thought so…and people kept their fingers crossed that they might work, which of course they didn’t!
Ok. I digress a little. Getting back to New Year’s resolutions. This year’s resolution should be that this is THE LAST YEAR of diet resolutions. Let’s face it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result, right? So, this year, do something different! Shake it up and resolve to shift your beliefs, shift your foods, shift your lifestyle, and watch as a leaner, healthier, happier person emerges.
How are you going to do this? I recommend that you start by watching this 5 part series that Peter Jennings did on the food industry. I found these on you tube. This documentary originally aired December 8, 2003! Imagine that. Over 11 years ago, and the obesity epidemic has gotten worse.
These videos are great because he gets to the core of the food industry’s involvement into how Americans are getting fat without really trying. I encourage you to become your own health advocate so you can take steps in the right direction to improve your health and those around you.
