Should You Detox Now?

Lost 13 pounds in 5 days! Would you open that email? I did.

I received it the other day from someone who sells supplements. This person offered a 5 day cleanse challenge.

Basically the challenge was to buy their product, drink it 3x a day, eat one meal of salad and a protein, and two snacks: a piece of fruit with a tablespoon of nut butter for one snack, and some sort of fat and protein combo (ie. beef jerky, handful of nuts or avocado) for the other snack. Oh, and to drink one gallon of water a day.

The emailed shared how one person lost 13 pounds in 5 days and feels great.

Sound enticing?

Heck yes! Ten years ago, I would have been all over that. Chasing that next shiny object, hoping this would be it. This will solve my problem. I’ll drop those pesky 7 pounds and my life would miraculously change.

The reality? It felt great for about 5 minutes. But it didn’t last. I was cranky. I was starving and I’d go back to my habits anyway when it was done. And I’ll fill you in on a little secret…the few pounds that were lost… was mostly water weight anyway.

You know what? Nothing worked. Nothing will work.

Those diets.
Those juice cleanses.
Counting calories.
Eating less, exercising more.
Drinking green drinks.

And I hate to say this…even intermittent fasting. Yup. You heard me.

NOPE. Zilch. Nada.

Why?

Because it’s all short-sighted. We’re DOING without understanding WHY.
We need to consider patterns, mindset and habits.
Looking at your lifestyle and connection, vs. separation and detachment.

Think Outside the Juice Box!

So what do you do? How do you stop wasting time clicking those links, buying those supplements, sorting through all the noise and overwhelm that Dr. Google and FB throws at you daily?

Start with why. As Simon Sinek talks about in his book with that same title, you must first start with why.
Why are you on a diet?
Why do you think you need to lose weight?
Why are you doing what you are doing?
