Just as everyone is so overwhelmed and confused by the plethora of information on the Internet and on T.V, I, myself get bogged down with sifting through the material so that I can share it with you. You see, my goal is to Feducate ™ You (feed you with education and educate you about food). I want to simplify nutrition for you so you can go on living life and focusing on more important matters.
The truth of the matter is that everyday, for the rest of your life, there will always be a news breaking miracle pill, food, drug or even exercise that is going to the next ‘it’ item that will once and for all fix, change or cure you. There is even a new diagnosis for eating disorders: Orthorexia, defined as a “pathological obsession for biologically pure and healthy nutrition.” We are a nation obsessed with everything, from fitting into a category to how we look, thanks to all the models, magazines and other media outlets, that we sometimes try everything at the expense of our own health. We’ve become our own victims.
I know, because that used to be my life, and it started at a young age. By the time I was in my 30’s and had children, my body was falling apart, but I thought I was healthy, and I thought I had life under control.
I had hypoglycemia, eczema, allergies, anemia, major PMS (trust me when I say, everyone knew when I was having my period!), sugar and carb cravings, digestive issues and migraines, and I thought I was healthy. I went to a neurologist for Imitrex shots, an internist who told me to take antacids, the dermatologist who gave me a medicated cream, AND last but not least, the allergist for allergy medicine and nose spray. 4 doctors, but I thought I was healthy (do you see a pattern here?). I thought this was just how it was. Everyone has a few doctors, right? And stress? Don’t even get me started…It was so complicated! That became my life and I thought it was normal. I mean, doesn’t everyone feel this way?
So you can only imagine how thrilled I was when I read an article in Popular Science, “Striving For The Perfect Diet is Making Us Sick.” That is why I am so passionate about my work. You see, it’s not about dieting. It’s not about counting calories or restricting or being Vegan or Paleo, or Gluten-free or any other label. It’s about good gut health, managing stress, lifestyle choices and the environment you live and work in and understanding toxins and their role in your health.
I know…it sounds like a lot, but when you start to understand why and how, all the pieces will fall into place. It’s about understanding what your body needs to function. We are all different. We are not a one size fits all and you need the tools to learn how to listen to YOU, not your friend, the internet or the magazines…Y.O.U. It’s that simple.
Learning how to listen to your body’s signals, it’s messages, is the only way you will be able to let go of everything, and still be able to go to dinners, parties and vacations…and have fun! Your body is a machine. Think of it as your engine. We know that cars have indicator lights that tell us when to change the oil, fill up the car with gas, and the newest models can even sense if a car ahead of us has stopped and will automatically stop to avoid a crash. What about your body? What are your indicator lights? The symptoms I mentioned above were mine but I didn’t know it because no one ever explained it to me. No one ever gave me a blueprint or GPS to help me navigate my own symptoms. I was fortunate that my son’s diagnosis of Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis and Ileitis opened my eyes. For those who have read my chapter in the book, “Women Living Consciously II,” my son’s diagnosis was A Blessing in Disguise.
Now, I’m changing all that and we’re breaking the rules. We’re starting with my new FREE 3 part video series that will provide you with some easy to implement tips and tools that will help you navigate your health. Think about it, without health, what do you really have? You can have all the money in the world, all the connections, and all the material items, but what good is it without your health?
I will be launching these tips in the middle of March, so if you want to get an announcement for when it starts, join my e-mail list! If you have friends whom you think will benefit from this, please share!
I look forward to ‘meeting’ you online.
Remember: Eat Healthy. Think Clearly. Live Fully.
