I was having coffee yesterday with a new colleague in my networking group (incidentally, if you are looking for a great networking group, Master Networks, a national organization is wonderful – if you want info about them, feel free to email me!).
Ok…back to my cup of coffee (yes, I drink coffee and it’s not always organic – what? I do the best I can in a situation, just like you!). We were sharing information about what we do and the topic of poop came up.
It didn’t phase me because I talk about poop ALL the time with my clients. My colleague giggled (everyone does).
I asked her if she paid attention to her poop.
There was some silence (normal…most people don’t pay attention) and she started asking me questions about gut health and what that means exactly.
After she stopped giggling, we talked about signs our bodies give us ALL THE TIME, but we are so unaware of them that we ignore them.
Worse is when you go to your practitioner and they shrug off the bloating, gas and discomfort that you’re feeling (yup, I’ve had many clients have that experience) and tell you to take an antacid.
YOUR GUT IS TALKING TO YOU!
Those farts that you laugh off, especially the ones that stink, uh, yeah, your body is NOT happy!
Ever have the SBD? (silent but deadly)…big sign that your gut is pissed at you!
Our bodies are like cars. Seriously. We’re well oiled machines that when ‘fed’ properly, gives us the fuel we need.
The difference is that your car has a dashboard that tells you when you’re low on gas, need an oil change or someone is behind you when you’re backing up. They park by themselves, talk to you and pretty soon they’ll be flying!
WHAT ABOUT YOUR BODY?
Where’s your dashboard?
Ahhh…there isn’t one BUT your body does give you signs to pay attention to.
And, your poop tells you something’s up also!
Check out this chart to see what type of poop you have and what it’s telling you:
Most people think of the common gas, farting, bloating, diarrhea, belching.
Many don’t realize that a sniffle, cough, itchy scalp, anxiety, dry skin and so much more can also be signs that your body is not balanced and that you need to pay attention.
How do you do this? How do you know that your gut is talking to you?
3 Steps:
1. Pay attention to ANYTHING that is going on: headache, sore throat, eczema, itchy skin, sniffles, coughs, gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, acne, anxiety, arthritis…the list goes on. Question EVERYTHING!
2. Write it down! Write down the symptoms.
3. Pay attention to the foods you are eating…an hour before you ate, right after, the day before…for aching joints, this could be an ongoing underlying issue…
Once you start paying attention and writing down, you can make adjustments to your meals.
This is just a start. What I love about helping my clients is that we stop guessing and start testing. Stool test, possibly hormone testing…
When I can get to the root of the issue, it’s amazing what we can find and what we can do.
