When things are important to us,
we make time for them.
But while we ALL think about the food that we put in our bodies, few of us think about what we put on our skin.
But when it comes to the facts, they’re pretty shocking.
For example, did you know that it takes 26 seconds for your skin to absorb a substance into your bloodstream? Or that, by the time a girl becomes a teenager, she typically has a dozen or more toxins in her system from cosmetics alone?
And the worst of it is, we’ve been lulled into this false sense of security, believing that if we pay more, we’ll get a better quality product. Or if a product’s dermatologist-, pediatrician-, or ophthalmologist-recommended, it’s safe for us to use.
And that’s simply not true.
Many skincare products available in drugstores and departments stores contain parabens (a known carcinogenic), mineral oil (a by-product of the oil industry), phthalates (which can disrupt hormones) and other carcinogens, hormone disruptors and skin irritants. And if a product is only “recommended” and not “tested”, 4 out of 10 people can have an allergic reaction to it, yet it can STILL wind up on a store shelf.
Did you know . . .
- The US only bans 10 chemicals in the cosmetic and skincare industry? By comparison, the European Union bans over 1,300.
- Just because a company SAYS they don’t test on animals, many of the ingredients they outsource are.
- The FDA does NOT regulate the use of the word “natural” on packaging? (Arsenic and lead are natural, but do you want them in your body? Animals are natural, but do you want animal by-products—or the hormones they have pumped into them—in your body?)
That’s why it’s so important that you educate yourself. That you look at what you’re using. That you read the ingredients. That you be PROactive in your choices, not REactive. That you stop listening to what the media is telling you and start listening to your gut (no pun intended).
That’s also why my approach is inside out; outside in.
I want to not only help you notice what you’re putting IN your body, but what you’re putting ON your body.
And there are multiple reasons why I choose to recommend Arbonne skincare and cosmetics.
Not least because they contain:
NO petroleum-based ingredients.
NO mineral oil.
NO artificial dyes or fragrances.
NO gluten, dairy or soy.
They’re not tested on animals and contain ZERO animal by-products.
They’re completely VEGAN.
They’re hypoallergenic and pediatrician, ophthalmologist and dermatologist-tested (not just “recommended”). And they combine the best of nature with the safest of science—creating products that ACTUALLY work.
